Questions to Ask about Your Prostate Condition

If you have been diagnosed with a prostate disease, having an open conversation with your doctor is important. Below is a list of questions that may help you learn more about your condition and prostate disease treatment options:

  • What additional tests will be performed and what are they for?
  • Among the treatments available for my prostate condition, what are the benefits, risks, and side effects that I should know about?
  • Are there alternative treatments that might be useful?
  • What is the likelihood that I will have incontinence or impotence as the result of my prostate disease and treatment?
  • If incontinence and/or impotence occur, are they permanent or will they last for only a certain period of time?
  • Will I have other urinary problems in the short or long term?
  • Are there certain foods I should eat or avoid?
